Rise in All-Inclusive Package Deals Boosts Croatian Tourism Amidst Rising Travel Costs

Written by  Aug 29, 2024

European tourists are increasingly turning to package holidays as the sharp rise in hotel and flight prices has revived demand for all-inclusive deals, with Croatia being a popular destination for such trips. Market research in Germany has shown that a combination of the cost-of-living crisis and disruptions caused by strikes has contributed to the renewed appeal of fixed-price packages, which avoid unexpected extra costs and make it easier to resolve issues if something goes wrong, reports JugInfo

This trend is also evident in southern Croatia, as confirmed by Stanko Ljubić, a long-time tourism professional and owner of the travel agency Globtur, a member of UHPA. He highlighted that these types of packages sell best in the German and British markets. Ljubić noted that this trend is especially noticeable when it comes to transfers and excursions, as safety is a key factor.

"This trend has been present for two years and is steadily rising. Research conducted by major tour operators, especially in Germany, shows that customers are returning in large numbers. Due to safety concerns, particularly the uncertainty of booking online and the presence of fake ads, some people prefer to pay for a package deal through an agency. In cases of airline bankruptcies, agencies handle the organization and insurance, and have more leverage with insurance companies compared to individual buyers," Ljubić explained.

He predicts that this trend will become even more common in the future, especially since it is popular among young people, and noted:

"It's true that younger travelers are also opting for package holidays, and tour operators are doing a lot to attract this demographic by offering security, representatives, and 24-hour availability, which younger clients have recognized. Older travelers, who are generally less adept with the internet, continue to travel this way, often sticking with the same trusted tour operator for years," said the experienced Dubrovnik tourism expert.

"In Dubrovnik, there is only one hotel that offers an all-inclusive package, but such packages are available in other parts of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County, especially in Orebić, Slano, and Korčula, where occupancy rates are slightly better due to this," added Stanko Ljubić.
