The leadership of Neum, the only Bosnia and Herzegovina (BIH) municipality on the Adriatic, has invited Serbian guests to choose this holiday destination because they saved the tourist season last year, when crossing the border with Croatia was difficult for citizens of both Serbia and BIH due to the coronavirus pandemic.
As they announced from Neum on Tuesday, the mayor, Dragan Jurković, met in Belgrade with the mayor Zoran Radojčić, with whom he talked about the arrival of Belgrade tourists in Neum this summer season.
"A large number of tourists in Neum last year were from Belgrade and it would be good to increase that number in the future, in accordance with our capacities," said the municipality.
Due to the promotion of Neum as a tourist destination, in April Neum hoteliers will visit Belgrade and Novi Sad and meet with colleagues from those cities and present the offer of the only city on the sea in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Municipality of Neum hopes that this is only the first in a series of visits that will contribute to better mutual cooperation.
When citizens of Serbia and BiH faced the problem of crossing the border with Croatia last year as a measure to protect against the spread of coronavirus, a large number of Serbs and BiH tourists spent their summers in Neum, saving the tourist season there.
