In the past week in the area of Police Administration of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County there were ten traffic accidents, of which there were four with injured persons in which one person was seriously injured and four had light injuries while six traffic accidents had material damage.

By carrying out traffic control measures, police officers have taken 384 repressive measures against the perpetrators of traffic offenses, out of which 100 measures taken due to speeding, 15 due to improper overtaking, 35 measures due to improper stop and parking, 65 measures because of non-use of the seat belt and 13 measures against drivers who were driving the vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

David Garett, world famous violinist, will perform in Croatia, as a part of his ‘Explosive’ tour. The concert will be held on October 13th (so you have more than enough time to plan your trip) in the Arena Zagreb and will surely be a hit.

Garett is a German pop and crossover violinist and recording artist, known for his special style – it's said that he blurred the lines between Mozart and Metallica.

He started playing violin as a little child and received his first Stradivarius violin at the age of 11, courtesy of German president Richard von Weizsäcker, after having performed for him. During his career he has sold more than three million albums to this date and has won 23 gold and 16 platinum awards all over the world.

He has held more than 1,500 concerts and some of his loyal fans are British Queen Elizabeth, former US President Barack Obama, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and many others.

He has also been able to set the world record for violin performance, for the fastest violin player - in 2008 and 2010 in Guiness World Records show for 66.56 or 65.26 seconds performance of the Flight of the Bumblebee by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov without a mistake He is also a well-known composer - for the album on the current tour, he composed 11 compositions.

Croatian Mountaineering Society Snijeznica organizes traditional climb on Snijeznica, mountain in Konavle which has several peaks above 1000 metres in height. The highest is Ilija's peak at 1234 metres above sea level. The event will be held two days after the International Women's Day, on Saturday, March 10th and it's called ''100 women at Snijeznica''.

Climbing Snijeznica for the International Women's Day proved to be really popular in the last couple of years. The gathering of participants is at 8:40 am in the center of Kuna Konavoska (near the info table about Snijeznica). At 9 am, after getting acquainted with the guides, the crowd will go uphill. There is about two hours walk on the mountaineering macadam path up to the top. During the climbing, two shorter breaks of 10 minutes will be made. At the top there will be a longer pause (depending on the weather conditions).

When it comes to returning, it’s good to know that you will not take the same path like uphill. It’s planned to go on the eastern side, to the meadows where you can mingle with other participants. Climbing, going down and socializing will end until 4 pm, before sunset.

When it comes to climbing, there are some rules. Solid shoes are a must, you should wear layered clothing, sun / wind / rain protection and take a backpack with chocolate, something to eat and 1.5 liter of water.

In case of unusual weather conditions, the organizer also reserves the right to cancel the climb for safety reasons.

The national air carrier of Croatia, Croatia Airlines, published a preliminary annual report today. Their net profit for 2017, according to preliminary figures, was 27 million kuna – Poslovni.hr writes.

A year earlier, net profit was 6.6 million kuna.

Total Croatia Airlines operating profit in 2017, according to preliminary data, was 1.76 billion kuna, which is 13 percent more than in 2016. The profit was affected by the sale of part of the slots at London Heathrow Airport, it’s stated in their report.

Total operating expenditures by preliminary data for 2017 were 1.72 billion kuna, which is by 10 percent more than in 2016.

Croatia Airlines had two million and 125 thousand passengers last year or 10 percent more than 2016. They also transferred 2.27 thousand tons of goods and mail.

Passenger's cabin was full up to 74.4 percent, which is a record-breaking performance in the company's history, the report says.

Dubrovnik’s most famous writer of comedy and tragedy, Marin Drzic, is going to London! One of the most popular books of “Dubrovnik’s Shakespeare” Uncle Maroje (Dundo Maroje) has been translated into English by Filip Krenus and will be presented in the Conway Hall, London, 25 Red Lion Square, WC1R 4RL on Friday, March 2nd at 6:30 pm.

The event is organized by the House of Marin Drzic, with the support of the City of Dubrovnik, Dubrovnik Tourist Board and co-organized by Istrobooks, British-Croatian Society and Honey-Tongued Theatre Productions, on the ocassion of the 450th anniversary of the death of Marin Drzic.

The presentation will take place in the Library of the Humanities and Publishing House of Conway Hall as part of a series of cultural evenings under the title ‘Image - Music – Text’ and in collaboration with the British publishing house Istrosbooks, whose director Susan Curtis edited the English translation of the book by Marin Drzic and Honey - tongued Theater Productions that will bring actors and musicians together, as well as the House of Marin Drzic, Croatian publisher.

The book will be presented by the translator Filip Krenus, Niksa Matic – the director of the House of Marin Drzic, Pavo Jancic – the chairman of the House of Marin Drzic Board and Susan Curtis, the editor of the English translation.

The visitors will get the chance to enjoy some of the parts of the book played by 5 actors and the music by Luka Sorkocevic. Photo-exhibition by Gary Goddard, showing the City of Dubrovnik and many more, will enrich this event.

After a successful international symposium on orchestral conducting, bringing together conducters from all over the world, the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra continues to work with young and talented musicians.

Along with a series of educational concerts in the Bunic-Kaboga Summer Villa with the City of Dubrovnik and Ivana Jelaca piano and educational concerts for Dubrovnik primary school students in Revelin, on Friday, March 2nd there will be a big concert of the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra and young musicians, from Luka Sorkocevic Art School. The orchestra will be conducted by Slobodan Begic, and the concert will be held in Revelin, starting at 8 pm.
