John Cleese, one of the most famous comedians and actors in the world, is coming to Croatia for the first time!
That fact delighted the fans of the famous face of Monty Python – so the first show, that will take place on June 15th in the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall in Zagreb, was completely sold out.
However, Cleese is generous and he doesn't want to disappoint the others that want to visit his 'Last Time To See Me Before I Die' show, so he added one more: on June 17th.
Fans will surely be delighted by the show that will take them trough the acting life of John Cleese – it will start with the montage of some of the most popular clips, followed with the story about early days of his career in comedy. In the second half of the show, he will tell the stories about filming some of his most famous movies – such as Life of Brian and give the audience the opportunity to ask him some questions.
For those who don't know, John Cleese is an English actor, voice actor, comedian, screenwriter, and producer. He achieved success at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and as a scriptwriter and performer on The Frost Report. In the late 1960s, he co-founded Monty Python, the comedy troupe responsible for the sketch show Monty Python's Flying Circus and the four Monty Python films: And Now for Something Completely Different, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Life of Brian and The Meaning of Life.
In the mid-1970s, Cleese and his first wife, Connie Booth, co-wrote and starred in the British sitcom Fawlty Towers, with Cleese receiving the 1980 BAFTA for Best Entertainment Performance. Later, he co-starred with Kevin Kline, Jamie Lee Curtis, and former Python colleague Michael Palin in A Fish Called Wanda and Fierce Creatures, both of which he also wrote. He also starred in Clockwise and has appeared in many other films, including two James Bond films as R and Q, two Harry Potter films, and the last three Shrek films.
You can buy tickets here, but hurry up, because the first show was sold out really fast.
Condé Nast Traveler, one of the most famous lifestyle travel magazines in the world, has recently published an article titled 'WHERE 'MAMMA MIA: HERE WE GO AGAIN' WAS FILMED IN CROATIA'. It brings details about filming locations on the island of Vis.
Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, the sequel to Universal's movie hit Mamma Mia, has been filmed on the Croatian island of Vis during the September and October last year. Just few days ago, the final trailer has been published. And it's lovely to see the scenes made on this beautiful island.
The filming of the Croatian part of a new sequel of the popular romantic comedy hit from 2008, engaged more than 270 filmmakers and statists from Croatia. ‘’Mamma Mia’’ producers were extremely satisfied with their experience of filming in our country. All the crew members were enchanted by the island of Vis.
-Most of the island appears in the film, but the action was centred on the village of Komiza to the west, particularly little Barjoska Bay, where a new road was specially built to bring the production to the rocky coast. Its co-star was the island’s most famous landmark, Stiniva beach on the south coast, with its white pebbles and dramatic cliff entrance to the sea (best visited by ferry rather than by the steep climb down from the road). For Kalokairi’s jetty – the venue in the first movie of a dancing parade of hunks in flippers and Speedos – they moved to the far western tip of Barjaci, home to a gun battery, while Jastozera, a waterside restaurant well-known for its lobster, was converted into a Greek tavern, and pizzeria Pansion Dionis into a village market - Condé Nast Traveler writes.
They also bring information where celebrities spent their nights – for example Amanda Seyfried was luckyy to move into Palaca Jaksa, a 17th century stone house, while Andy Garcia was at the Villa Serena, a luxurious three floor house.
-Given the run of the island, all made the most of their time off. Pierce Brosnan, in residence with wife Keely, was particularly active, visiting Vatrica in the Kut area of Vis town for seafood on the shore and taking a daytrip to nearby island Budikovac, known for its blue lagoon, where the single resident runs a menu-free restaurant serving local specialities - Condé Nast Traveler shares with readers.

Croatia is out of competition for the best Eurovision song this year, but that doesn't mean we can't be included in Eurovision drama!
Salvador Sobral, last year's winner, has given an interview to Portugese paper Publico, saying that the song of Israel's representative Netta Barzilai is horrible. However, many of the Eurovision fans consider it to be a favourite.
Sobral also added that he hopes to stop being regarded as the winner of the festival and to return to just being Salvador Sobral of music, saying that this instant fame doesn't suit him at all. However, he admits that Eurovision also has brought many good things, so it's love-hate relationship.
Sobral's words made Jacques Houdek, Croatian representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017, really furious. It seems that Houdek decided to say all that he's kept bottled up for a year. This is what he wrote:
- SHAME ON YOU, Salvador Sobral!!! SHAME ON YOU!!! Is this how a winner of the Eurovision Song Contest is supposed to speak out? You tried so hard to portray yourself as a humble man, as a true artist, and you may have tricked the entire Europe, but you did not fool me! Let me tell you something Salvador Sobral - last year, when you missed out on ALL of the ESC rehearsals, and your sister did them for you - the European Broadcasting Union - EBU should have disqualified you! It was unprofessional and extremely unfair to all of us who were there, doing all the hard work! It was also very sad and unfortunate that you were sick, I have to say, but if you are having health issues - YOU DON‘T TAKE ON such a huge project like Eurosong! Even in your own victory speech you were unpleasant to all of us, your fellow Eurosong contestants - but NOW, you are being far more rude by picking on Israel‘s representative Netta Barzilai and her song, it is just outrageous! So patronising and completely inappropriate, not gentleman-like of you to do this! You should apologize ASAP!!! You are not just a winner of Esc, you are a host now, as Esc is held in your own country, so this behavior of yours is even worse! If you hate the concept of Eurovision so much, you never should have competed! Now, you even say you want to get as far away from the fact you won the Esc... Come on... The fact that you had to struggle to listen to last year songs and now you are so happy that you don‘t have to listen to any of this year‘s „horrible“ ESC songs just tells us all that you are a very small person! All of these young artists have dreams and they are under enormous pressure at this moment, so who are you to put shade on any of them? You may think you are a true artist, that is your right, but to me you just seem like a poser. Do you really think you are cool by acting so non-interested and distant? Not! Do you really believe that this kind of behaviour makes you a bigger artist in the public eye? It does not! It just shows us all that you are fake, just like you were a year ago when you won the ESC 2017. You may have won the ESC, but to me you are not a winner! I wish all the best of luck to all the contestants in this year‘s competition. Kisses and hugs from sunny Croatia!
