Coronavirus Dubrovnik: Positive news! No new cases in past 24 hours in Dubrovnik – Neretva County

Written by  Apr 20, 2020

There are no coronavirus infections in the Dubrovnik-Neretva County, and all swabs taken yesterday from the Josipovac Rehabilitation Centre and the Nursing Home in Metkovic are negative, the county civil protection headquarters reported Monday.

The prefect of the county, Nikola Dobroslavic, pointed out that there were no positive findings among the 145 tests. In total there are 110 people who have been infected with coronavirus in the county, of which 16 have made a full recovery. The situation over the past few days has been relatively stable, with three days without any new cases at the end of last week.

"This is especially important because those samples included those we have taken from the Josipovac Centre and the Metković Nursing Home of all employees and residents. We have a good situation at the Dubrovnik Nursing Home, no one has symptoms, nor do we have any announcement that there may be new cases,” said Dobroslavic.

As far as movement inside the county is concerned a proposal has been sent to the main civil protection headquarters in Zagreb to divide the county into three zones as regards e-passes, Dubrovnik, Konavle, Župa in one zone, the Neretva Valley in a second and finally the islands and the Peljesac peninsula.

The director of the Dubrovnik General Hospital, Marijo Bekic, pointed out that 28 patients are hospitalized with COVID-19 in the hospital, 19 of them in the Department of Infectology, one in the Intensive Care Unit and eight in a separate building of the Dubrovnik student home. Adding that the hospital is functioning normally given the challenging conditions the staff find themselves in.

And the Chief of Police, Ivan Pavlicevic, stressed that no new breach of the self-isolation measure had been reported and that there were still 19 in total, and there were 533 inhabitants of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County under the measure of self-isolation.
