The city is in complete lockdown and the normally vibrant stone streets and plazas only echo to the sounds of pigeons flapping and the odd cat meandering around the silent pavement café bars. It is a truly strange sight.
Dubrovnik should be on the cusp of another hectic tourist season, Easter around the corner, but instead it is eerily silent. The bell tower sounds the hour and yet nobody is paying attention, nobody is late for an appointment or running home for lunch.
The lights are on, and everyone is at home.
