Mayor of Dubrovnik determined to financially assist local businesses affected by coronavirus pandemic

The Mayor of the City of Dubrovnik, Mato Frankovic, held a meeting today with representatives of professional associations of businessmen operating in the City of Dubrovnik on the subject of the emergency situation in Dubrovnik due to the emergence of a global coronavirus pandemic.

“We are aware of the situation that we are in and we are taking all the necessary measures to ensure maximum health care for all our fellow citizens. That is our priority at the moment,” emphasized Franković adding that the epidemiological situation in our and all other counties is being closely monitored and that further decisions and instructions will be made in accordance with the assessment of competent epidemiologists.

All sectoral organizations have put their resources at the disposal of the City of Dubrovnik and the Dubrovnik General Hospital to provide the best possible conditions for citizens with regard to the health threat.

“We are one of the most vulnerable cities in terms of financial stability, given that our economy relies so heavily on tourism and related activities. Therefore, in cooperation with the Government of the Republic of Croatia, we will implement all measures in accordance with the Government program, and when this crisis passes we are ready to put part of our investments on hold and invest that money into the recovery of our city's economy,” said the Mayor.

“In co-operation with the City of Dubrovnik a model of financial assistance to the economy of Dubrovnik will be made, which would amount to 100 million Kuna annually,” concluded Mayor Franković.
