Dubrovnik celebrates wine for the seventh year in a row. This year's 'Dubrovnik FestiWine' wine festival will be held from 16th to 22nd of March, sponsored by the Dubrovnik-Neretva County, with the City as host, in cooperation with the Croatian Chamber of Commerce, with the support of faithful partners and sponsors, organized by the agency Dubrovnik Partner.
Starting in 2014 as a regional wine festival, with the aim of promoting wine culture and autochthonous varieties of Dubrovnik-Neretva County, Dubrovnik FestiWine opened its doors from 2017 and became an international wine festival.
-What can be more stimulating for development and success than healthy competition? We look forward to all exhibitors and their wines, all visitors and wine connoisseurs, and we look forward to a competition where our County wines can further confirm their excellence -said Dubrovnik-Neretva County Perfect Nikola Dobroslavic.
The festival is traditionally held within the "Dubrovnik Wine Week" in which local caterers design and offer attractive delicacies of the Dubrovnik region paired with the best wines. Look for restaurants, taverns and wine bars marked "Wine Friendly" in the week of from 16th to 22nd of March!
Traditionally, a "Blind date" will be organized - blindly tasting and choosing the wine that is most tasty with the delicacy - the oyster from Ston. "Blind date: In love with Ston Oysters" has become a favorite event of festival sponsors, media partners, organizers and of course wine experts, and will be held this year on March 18th at the First Croatian Wine Museum in Putnikovici, Peljesac.
On Thursday, March 19th, the FestiWine Gala will be held at the Dubrovnik Palace Hotel, featuring seven creative dishes from two top chefs along with seven of last year's winning wines. The number of guests is limited, so you should reserve your place as soon as possible. The entire proceeds are earmarked for scholarships for young talents from culinary and somelier area.
The central event of the festival takes place on Friday, March 20th, at Sunset Beach in Lapad Bay. It begins with a professional meeting of winemakers with caterers, hoteliers, wine merchants and other B2B wine professionals from 10 am to 2 pm. From 2 pm to 8 pm the Wine Exhibition is open to all visitors of the wine-growing area when you can choose and taste hundreds of excellent wines, and participate in organized wine workshops and tastings.
