Waterfront in Rozat gets a new look

By  Feb 12, 2020

Mayor Mato Frankovic with his associates visited the renovated waterfront in Rozat yesterday. It is an investment worth 2.2 million kuna, which prevented the further destruction of the waterfront, and ultimately obtained a safer and more convenient space in front of the Franciscan monastery in Rozat, which is also a gathering place for the inhabitants of this area.

Through the works, the coast was rehabilitated and a new coastal wall was built and the whole area was lined and paved with stone. The waterfront retained its earlier shape, which was completely damaged by the river's impact on the foundation and the soil on which it was built. The quay concrete coastal wall was cracked and sunk, and the stone quay in the western part was almost completely destroyed. The performed works ensure the stability and proper appearance of the space.

-This is the beginning of the organization of the Rijeka dubrovacka area. We have applied this project for co-financing to the Ministry of the Sea, so we expect some of the money from the line ministry. In accordance with the decision of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, we are continuing the project of reconstruction of the entire area of Rijeka dubrovacka with the construction of new moorings and I believe that they will start working quickly. We are also going to solve utility infrastructure. The first section of the construction of the sewage network to the ambulance is finished. Now goes to the second section, public procurement is over, works should start very soon, we are waiting for a decision on the selection of supervision, which will resolve the sewerage network of the entire area of Rijeka dubrovacka - said Mayor Frankovic on this occasion.

Josip Sopta, the parish priest of the Assumption of Mary in Rozat, thanked the city of Dubrovnik
-People are thrilled, but you can see it all by yourself. Our eyes best convey the beauty and importance of this little one, and for us a great project – Sopta said.
