Spectacular New Year's Eve in Dubrovnik – All you need to know

By  Dec 31, 2019

It's finally the day that we've been waiting for! A fantastic New Year's Eve on Stradun will be preceded by a children's party, at which the popular Croatian singer Mia Dimsic will perform at 11 am, followed by the traditional kolenda at noon with the Folklore Ensemble Lindo, Libertas Choir and Dubrovnik City Music.

All the visitors of Dubrovnik, as well as locals, will enter in the new 2020 with icons of Croatian music and well-known creators of the supreme atmosphere: the band Parni valjak. The performance of the legendary band with never-longer and never more spectacular fireworks at midnight will ensure an unforgettable start to the new year on Stradun. Ante Gelo band with guests Bruno Oberan, Ivo Ajdukovic and Alen Duras, young stars of the popular TV shows The Voice and A Side will perform as a pre-band on the New Year's Eve from 9 pm.

On the first day of 2019, at noon on Stradun, the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Israeli conductor Noam Zurr, will perform the most beautiful waltzes and polkas from the Strauss family repertoire at a traditional New Year's concert called the Orlando Ball. Visitors will enjoy oysters and sparkling wine, thanks to the Dubrovnik Tourist Board. On the first night of the new year, on January 1st, at 9 pm, one of the most popular Croatian vocal groups will perform on Stradun - the vocal group Iskon.

GOOD TO KNOW…

New Year's Eve is often connected with crowds and many people going to the Old City. Our advice is to use the benefits of the public transport, which is free after 6 pm during the Dubrovnik Winter Festival!

If you really want to go by car, then you must know that as a part of the organization of the 2020 celebration at Stradun, on Tuesday, December 31st, a traffic ban will apply in the area around the historic core from 7 pm on 31st of December 2019 to 3 am on 1st of January 2020.

Excluded from the ban are public transport vehicles (buses and taxis), buses from travel agencies, emergency vehicles, vehicles used by residents of the City of Dubrovnik with a residence address in the traffic prohibition zone and special-purpose vehicles.

ALSO…

The weather forecast shows a moderate chance of the cold wave in Dubrovnik. Even though you'll be on the wings of euphoria, you don't want to start a new decade with a cold! Wear something warm rather than blingy, preferably in layers, including hats and gloves.

And the most important thing: have an amazing night!!
