One of the sweetest events on the Dubrovnik calendar is without doubt the traditional Cake Party. Yesterday the Cake Party was a colourful and tasty event, held right in the centre of the historic Old City of Dubrovnik. Organized by the Dubrovnik Tourist Board, in front of St. Blaise Church, the twelfth humanitarian “Cake Party” once again proved a hit with the public.
Visitors enjoyed delicious and sweet snacks and an excellent entertainment program, which included the Lazareti Dance Studio and the popular singer Domenica, who entertained all those present at Stradun. The symbolic price of a cake voucher was 15 Kuna, and a total of 11,515 Kuna was raised for the Children and Youth Mental Health Clinic of Dubrovnik General Hospital, which will use the donation to collect diagnostic materials and didactic equipment.
About 50 cakes were donated by various media outlets, hotels, restaurants, travel agencies and other organisations for this event.
Aware of the importance of environmental protection and the sustainable use of natural resources, this year the Dubrovnik Tourist Board organized the Cake Party in an ecological tone by rejecting the use of plastic plates and cutlery and turning towards environmentally friendly and biodegradable materials.
