Each year, from November 15th to December 15th, the Republic of Croatia celebrates the "Anti-Addiction Month" within which police officers of the Dubrovnik-Neretva Police will carry out a series of activities aimed at raising public awareness of the problem of all forms of addiction.
During this month educational lectures will be held independently and with partners in primary and secondary schools, information booths will be set up and police will intensify street reduction to counteract all addictive substances.
In the first 10 months of 2019, there were 287 criminal offenses in the drug crime area in the area of the Dubrovnik-Neretva Police and 946 offenses under the Anti-Drug Act. As for drug seizures, 1,033 seizures of various forms of drugs were recorded, and as many as 464 kilograms of marijuana were seized, over a kilogram of amphetamines and nearly five thousand drugs from the list of drugs.
In addition to education, there is a number of things that will be enhanced:
- traffic activities and driver testing for the presence of drugs and alcohol in the body;
- border crossing activities to combat international drug trafficking;
- control of the sale and service of alcohol, and the sale of cigarettes to minors;
- Compliance with the City Decisions banning the consumption, carrying and possession of alcoholic beverages in the City of Dubrovnik and in the City of Metkovic.
