Dubrovnik could well have a new flight opportunity with news that the Chinese are interested in investing into a new airport for the town of Trebinje.
According to reports on the specialised website EX-YU Aviation the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) has shown interest in constructing an airport in the town of Trebinje which is only 30 kilometres from Dubrovnik in Republika Srpska in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Apparently representatives from AVIC have met with the local government to discuss the possible investment and commented that “Every country would be honoured to have such a company [AVIC] as its partner and we are delighted they have expressed their readiness to continue their cooperation with us.”
The airport in Trebinje is an ongoing project that started over a decade ago but has yet to be realised, this fresh injection of capital would hopefully see this project completed.
If this project actually gets completed not only would it open up new routes to this part of Bosnia and Herzegovina but also presumably new possibilities for Dubrovnik.
