The Mayor of Dubrovnik tries to stimulate restaurant owners to work during the winter months

Written by  Aug 29, 2019

In order to extend the tourist season, the mayor of the City of Dubrovnik Mato Frankovic, proposed a measure that should stimulate owners of restaurants in the historic core to work during the winter months.

The measure refers to the exemption from rent for public areas of caterers predominantly serving meals (restaurants, taverns, pizzerias) in the historic core, if they carry on their business from December 1st 2019 to February 29th 2020 (except the days of Christmas, St. Stephen, New Year, and the Holy Three Kings - when they can work if they want), at least 8 hours a day.

The measure is now being proposed so that caterers can plan their future operations and define the number of employees of their catering facility.

Caterers in the Historic Core who are predominantly serving meals and who will be doing the business from December 1st, 2019 to February 29th, 2020, are required to submit to the documents to the City Property Management Department with a request for rent exemption in winter months, as well as a written statement of performance doing the mentioned period.

The Mayor will decide on each individual request while the supervision of the operation of catering establishments will be carried out by the Municipal Guard.
