Director from Dubrovnik invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences

By  Jul 02, 2019

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is extending invitations to join the organization to 842 artists and executives who have distinguished themselves by their contributions to theatrical motion pictures. Two Croatians got this honourable invitation: director from Dubrovnik Antoneta Alamat Kusijanovic and Vanja Cernjul, awarder director of photography from Zagreb, joining superstars like Lady Gaga.

The 2019 class is 50 percent women, 29 percent people of color, and represents 59 countries. Those who accept the invitations will be the only additions to the Academy’s membership in 2019.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is the world's preeminent movie related organization, comprised of 8,000+ accomplished men and women working in cinema.

This is another great success for Antoneta Alamat Kusijanovic, who is well known as the first Croatian to be in the Cannes residence of Cinéfondation. She was born in 1985 in Dubrovnik. In her films, she deals with the dark side of passion, family limitations, and the dangers of secrets. She has mastered film art at Columbia University in New York.
