As part of the regular activities of maintaining the streets of Dubrovnik, the City of Dubrovnik completed the works on the removal of the existing dampened protection fence and the installation of a new protective and decorative fence on the part of the Frana Supila Street.
The protective fence decorated with "Dubrovnik sun" was set above the Banje Beach on a section about 50 meters long. The total value of the works is 285 thousand kuna.
This is a wrought-iron fence with a sunflower motif, originally designed by the famous Viennese architect and planner Otto Wagner for the city rail system in Vienna. The fence soon became a recognizable urban detail of Dubrovnik when it was ordered and placed in the area of Boninovo for the introduction of tram traffic in 1910 – 1911.
