"The Coast of Giants: An Anthropometric Survey of High Schoolers on the Adriatic Coast of Croatia", a study conducted within PeerJ's open access scientific journal, which covers biomedical and medical fields, provides interesting information on the height in the eastern Adriatic. The largest women with an average height of 169.1 cm and the largest men with an average height of 183.9 cm come from the Split - Dalmatia County, while women from the Dubrovnik - Neretva County, with an average height of 168.9 cm and men with a height of 183.3 cm, are immediately behind. In the area of our county, the tallest women come from Metkovic and their average height is 168.7 cm, while men height of 184.9 cm is also on the top of our county Dubrovacki.hr writes.
Considering the height of the average 18-year-old in Croatia between 1980-84 and 2006-08, the data reveals the growth of 2.9 cm, while in women of the same age group there was an increase of 1.8 cm. Historical data shows that in the period of 125 years between 1883-2008, the average male in Croatia grew by as much as 15 cm, or more precisely from the initial 165.5 in 1883 to 180.5 in 2008, which averages 1.2 cm growth per decade.
The research was based on anthropological methods, and it did not take into account only one factor, but many, adding the exploring of political, economic, economic and social conditions in the community.
