2016 looks like being a busy year for Dubrovnik Airport with more new flights and more passengers expected. According to reports in the specialised website, Ex-Yu Aviation, Dubrovnik Airport is expecting to welcome 1.8 million passengers next year.
As usual the summer season will be the far and away the busiest time of the year, with airlines, such as Volotea, Air Berlin, Niki, easyJet and Transavia, offering extra flights through the warmer months.
The airport expects that passenger figures in 2016 will grow by between five and six percent compared with 2015.
This year has also been a successful one for the airport with 1.67 million passengers passing through the airport up to the end of November.
This impressive figure makes Dubrovnik the third busiest airport in Croatia, after Zagreb and Split, and is an increase of 6.4 percent over the same period from 2014. Hardly surprisingly the largest number of passengers through Dubrovnik Airport were international, almost 87 percent of the total. And a grand total of 67 airlines operated between Dubrovnik and over 50 destinations in 2015.
As far as routes are concerned the most popular was the London – Dubrovnik connection, accounting for almost 14 percent, followed by Paris, Helsinki, Barcelona, Rome and Manchester. Croatia Airlines was the busiest airline operating out of Dubrovnik, followed by the budget airline easyJet, Norwegian Air Shuttle, Thomson Airways, British Airways, Vueling Airlines, Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines.
