The Socio-Economic Effects of Digital Transformation is the theme of the 2nd International Scientific Conference of SINCERE (Smart Ideas and a New Concept of Economic Regeneration in Europe), organized by the Department of Economics and Business Economics and held at the University of Dubrovnik from October 25th to October 27th, 2018.

The ceremonial opening of the Conference will be held on Thursday, October 25th, at 10 am, at the Amphitheater of the University Campus (Branitelja Dubrovnika 41). As part of the opening ceremony, a panel discussion will be held attended by: Mirna Medica, Senior Advisor to DG NEAR European Commission for Digital Society and Economy, professor Slavo Radosevic, European Commission Specialist for Smart Specialization and Professor at University College London, prof. Alex Coad, European Commission Adviser, one of the world's leading authoritative firms in the field of Research for Fast-Growing Enterprises and Editor of Research Policy magazine, which has been among the top five scientific journals in the field of economics for many years, as well as prof. On the second day of the conference, a roundtable will be held in the organization of the Institute of Economics in Zagreb, which will discuss the possibilities of smart specialization and development of smart cities in Croatia.

The theme of the conference is the digital transformation of European economies. The world we live in increasingly becomes digitalized. New technologies change our society, culture and everyday life. First of all, they revolutionize the way our economies operate. Tomorrow's products and services will be digital, which opens up many opportunities for economy growth. The path to exploiting this potential begins today and demands change and adjustment of economic policy.

The conference is held under the auspices of President Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic and supported by the Ministry of Science and Education.
