Last night multiple award-winning writer David Mitchell had reading and conversation event in Lazareti and today he met Dubrovnik Mayor Mato Frankovic and Deputy Mayor Jelka Tepsic.
This world-famous writer, listed on the New York Times bestseller list for the novels The Bone Clocks and Cloud Atlas, which also hot a movie adaptation, nominated for the Booker Prize for the novels Number9Dream, Cloud Atlas and Black Swan Green, expressed delight with Dubrovnik and people who he met here.
In particular, he was impressed by Lokrum and the rich history of Dubrovnik. He was interested to hear what it’s like to manage such a city and what are the challenges of being a Mayor. In the context of rich and interesting history, Mayor Frankovic talked about plans for the future, especially about better opportunities for young people and ensuring a better quality of life for citizens.
On this occasion Frankovic handed David Mitchell the English version of the book written by famous Dubrovnik writer, Marin Drzic – Dundo Maroje or Uncle Maroje.
