The reconstruction of Lazareti, a complex of former Dubrovnik quarantine, which is now a center of numerous cultural institutions and associations, continues. The City Administration confirms that works on the eighth, ninth and tenth hall of this complex have been started, for which money was secured with the project "Lazareti - the creative district of Dubrovnik". This project recently got its manager, designer and artist of the Dubrovnik roots of Pero Mrnarevic.
The current renovation works for the reconstruction of three halls will cost 20.6 million Kuna, while the entire Lazaret revival project will cost 31 million. The rest of the money goes to equip other halls and the development of future partner programs. Works are expected to finish by the end of this year.
Considering the approach of the heart of the tourist season, it was agreed with the contractors that the main works will take place from 5 to 8 am to avoid the crowds, which are possible because Ploce is s a frequent traffic area with taxi’s and Libertas bus station.
The works that follow are the result of a signed renewal contract of three halls in April, where a community of bidders, the Dubrovnik companies, was awarded a public procurement contract.
- This is a unique example of reconstruction where the heritage for the first time is being restored by the European Union, and it is especially important to rebuild it with Dubrovnik's brain - emphasized Mayor Mato Franković, as Dubrovacki Vjesnik reports.
