DU MOTION – Around 2500 runners to hit the streets of Dubrovnik this weekend

By  The Dubrovnik Times Apr 26, 2018

Almost 2,500 runners will run this weekend on Dubrovnik's streets! Around a half of them will be the part of the Du Motion – Runners’ Days Dubrovnik main event, Dubrovnik half-marathon, which put Dubrovnik on the international racing map. Every year, runners from all around the world arrive in Dubrovnik just because of that.

This two-day sports and tourism event in its fourth year is still confirmed as the most international event of this kind in Croatia and the region.

- We are extremely pleased with the response, as there are runners coming from all over the world. In front of us there is a nice sports weekend in Dubrovnik and some will surely use it to enjoy the city too. This is actually our ultimate goal, promoting the destination itself as being ideal for such an active holiday. Additionally, it is now our job to make the best of their stay, so they go home with the most beautiful memories - Du Motion director Alen Boskovic said for Dubrovacki Vjesnik.

In addition to the half-marathon, a humanitarian race of 5K will be held on Sunday, April 29th, with over 800 participants. All collected money will be given to the Association of Down Syndrome of Dubrovnik-Neretva County. A day earlier, on Saturday, April 28th, the Children's Race on the Stradun with preschool children is scheduled and also an extremely attractive but demanding Race on the Walls.

In order for everything to be on the track and to be executed at the highest possible level there will be 600 volunteers.

The unavoidable part of the event program is the Du Motion Expo at Lazareti, where runners can mingle and take their start packages. This year, a novelty - Du Motion Chat, a place for exchange of experiences and interesting lectures. For example, there will be a lecture by May El-Khalil, starter of the Beirut Marathon, one of the biggest racing events in the Middle East, which will be held on Saturday at 5 pm.
