If you are fan of hiking or adventure in general, a moonlight hiking trip may be a perfect thing for you. On Monday, August 7th, you can explore the beauty of the Konavle region at night under a full moon – for free.
Hikers meet at Zvekovica (in front of Pemo Market) where you can buy everything you need for hiking at 7:45 pm. Zvekovica is 25 minutes by car from Dubrovnik, 7 minutes from Cavtat and 7 minutes from Čilipi.
The hike will take place at the old railway route known locally as „Ćiro“, from Vojski do to Mihanići and back. This railway trail joined the numerous places and peoples of Bosnia and Hercegovina, Montenegro and Croatia. It was built by the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy at the turn of the 20th century. Along the route you will enjoy the beautiful landscapes of Konavle field and pass through the tunnels pierced into the rocks.
- Wear layers, sturdy shoes, bring a flashlight / headlamp, snacks, camera as needed and a minimum of 1 litre of water. The full moon hike is 9 kilometers (5.5 miles) long. The hike can take a few hours so we recommend it for hikers over the age of 12. Hiking is at your own risk! – the organizers wrote.
After the meeting at Zvekovica, hikers will continue driving with cars for approximately 15 minutes to the starting point of hiking. Hiking begins at 8:15pm and ends at 11pm in Vojski Do and is led by licensed mountain guides.
Due to weather conditions the hike can be canceled at the last minute, so the organizers of the event advise you to check it periodically for last minute hike schedule changes. You can do that on this link.
