The Adriatic Sea in the Dubrovnik region is without doubt one of the cleanest seas in the world. And with thousands of tourists enjoying the county’s beaches it has been confirmed that almost all of the beaches have water of excellent quality.
The latest sea water testing was carried out by the County Public Health Institute of Dubrovnik-Neretva County from the 17th of July to the 26th of July and of the 116 beaches in the county 113 passed with the highest marks. This is the fifth regular testing of the sea water in the county; these tests are carried out every summer in order to monitor the quality of sea water.
Samples of the sea at all beaches were in accordance with the requirements of the Bathing Water Quality Regulation. Out of a total of 116 beaches, the sea at 113 beaches was rated as a sea of outstanding quality. Whilst two beaches on the island of Mljet were judged to have sea water of good quality and one beach on the island of Lopud reached a level of satisfactory.
