Brace yourselves, Dubrovnik – the summer heat is just getting started, and next week it’s set to explode into full-on heatwave territory.
While locals are already fanning themselves in frustration over sticky nights and steamy afternoons, meteorologists are now warning that the real heat hasn’t even arrived yet.
So far, temperatures have been climbing steadily, with highs of up to 35°C expected over the next few days. Thursday and Friday will be hot, humid, and increasingly uncomfortable, with sea temperatures between 23 and 25°C, perfect for cooling off – if you can find a spot in the shade.
Friday will see mostly sunny skies and a warm wind, pushing morning temperatures up early and bringing daily highs of 34°C or more.
The weekend won’t bring much relief. Expect sunny skies, dry air, and sizzling heat, with overnight lows between 20 and 25°C along the coast, and daytime highs hovering between 30 and 35°C. A bit of morning bura and afternoon maestral will stir the air, but don’t count on much breeze to save you.
Then comes next week’s blast furnace. A real wave of summer heat is approaching. We could hit 37°C in the shade right here in Dubrovnik.
Locals and visitors alike are being urged to stay hydrated, avoid direct sun in peak hours, and keep an eye on vulnerable groups as the city heads into what could be the hottest spell of the season so far.
Dubrovnik is heating up – and summer hasn’t even peaked yet.
