Dubrovnik Airport is participating in the LIFE TRIP-AIR program. The program was initiated at Budapest Airport and aims to revolutionize waste management at airports. Among other innovations, it will develop a prototype Smart Bin that automatically identifies and sorts waste produced by passengers and airport staff.
The project is dedicated to reducing, recycling, and reusing waste at airports. It aims to reduce unsorted mixed waste by 70% and to reuse 85% of construction waste, reports zamaaero.
The project is co-financed by the European Commission's LIFE program and managed by the CINEA agency. It will last for four years. In addition to Dubrovnik and Budapest, the project also includes the airports of Venice and Madrid.
