In Dubrovnik today, at 11:22 AM, a startling incident unfolded. The driver of a convertible bus decided to disregard the rules established for accessing and stopping outside of the historic Old City, on the Pile plateau. Despite clear signs indicating restricted access and the presence of raised bollards, the driver forcibly maneuverer the bus over a pneumatic bollard, attempting to breach the restricted traffic zone. In doing so, not only did he cause damage to his own vehicle, but also to city property, and endangered the safety of the passengers on board.
This unfortunate event sheds light on a larger issue: the disregard for established regulations in favour of personal gain. Despite the city's efforts to inform the public about the proper usage of the Pile plateau, some individuals prioritize their own interests over respecting order and adhering to rules. For years, the Pile plateau has been a sought-after spot for certain individuals to conduct cabrio bus rides, and they seem determined to maintain their access regardless of the rules, stated the City of Dubrovnik.
As a consequence of the incident, one pneumatic bollard was completely destroyed, while others remained functional.
The incident itself, including the sequence of events leading up to it, was captured by surveillance cameras positioned at the Pile plateau, providing valuable evidence for further investigation and enforcement.
