Cavtat's Charm Shines: The Guardian Names it Among Europe's Most Beautiful Coastal Towns

Recently, Cavtat received yet another significant recognition, this time in the form of a well-deserved place on the list of the most beautiful coastal European cities and places by the British newspaper "The Guardian." The criteria were not only related to tourism but also to access to attractive natural locations, the authenticity of the place, and the overall atmosphere.

The authors of The Guardian describe Cavtat as one of the "most charming small coastal towns in Dalmatia."

"One of Dalmatia’s most charming small seaside towns, Cavtat has terracotta-roofed houses that ripple out around a small horseshoe bay, with two wooded peninsulas stretching out towards Dubrovnik, 13 miles away across the water. Low-key cafes and restaurants – several run by the same families for decades – run parallel to the waterfront promenade, with swimming platforms and small pebble coves giving way to crystal-clear water. Boat taxis run regularly to Dubrovnik and nearby Elaphiti islands, and there’s a lovely circular walking route through the woods, with a couple of simple beach bars that are perfect sundowner spots," The Guardian states.

Head of the Konavle Council, Bozo Lasić, emphasized that this recognition also comes as a result of continuous work and investment in Cavtat, from landscaping, the construction of the promenade, to addressing the use of public spaces.

"In the last five years, we have received several major awards, being repeatedly declared either among the best destinations or the best destination, and we have won the Silver Flower of Entente Florale. These things do not come by themselves or overnight but are the result of hard work and careful consideration. I am delighted with every success related to Konavle, especially when we see that others recognize everything we invest in," Lasić said on this occasion.
