Dubrovnik will soon bid farewell to one of their popular entertainment spots as Klub Dubina, situated within the TUP complex, announces its closure. The news was shared with the public via a Facebook post, expressing gratitude to friends, supporters, and visitors who contributed to the club's journey.
Operating for over four years, Klub Dubina has been a vibrant hub for cultural events and live performances, hosting an array of local, regional, and international artists. Despite facing challenges, including the delay caused by the pandemic, the club successfully opened its doors to the public in April 2022, offering a diverse range of programs.
The club's closure comes as a disappointment to many, especially considering its efforts to revitalize the local cultural scene and provide a platform for emerging talents. Klub Dubina's management expressed frustration with the lack of support and communication from the new administration of the TUP complex, which ultimately led to the decision to cease operations.
The club owners commented “Unfortunately, with the arrival of the new management, instead of the expected support and cooperation, we encounter the exclusion of the club from the "New European Bauhaus" project, the announcement of the club's demolition, lack of understanding, and almost no communication, which culminated in the blocking of accounts and pushing into bankruptcy by the TUP management.”
However, the management of TUP paint an entirely different story, “Since assuming responsibility for Tup d.d. company, it is important to emphasize that on multiple occasions and in various ways, efforts were made to accommodate Klub Dubina, namely the company Ritam jedan dva Ltd. The existing debt of Ritam jedan dva d.o.o. company has always been the subject of discussions and agreements between the Management of Tup d.d. and the lessee, Ritam jedan dva d.o.o. It should be noted that Tup d.d. company also covered their electricity, water, and municipal fee expenses.”
And they added that in August 2022, Tup d.d. sought to assist Ritam jedan dva Ltd. with an HAMAG Bicro loan for Klub Dubina. Despite agreeing on a debt settlement plan, Ritam jedan dva Ltd. failed to comply, leading to forced collection proceedings in January 2023. The company's management aimed to resolve the issue amicably but faced non-compliance from Ritam jedan dva Ltd. Tup d.d. expresses regret over the situation, having previously shown understanding towards Ritam jedan dva Ltd’s business challenges. The current debt owed by Ritam jedan dva d.o.o. stands at €38,820.17.
