Preparatory work is underway in Dubrovnik to commence the restoration and rehabilitation of the statue of Saint Blaise above the Outer Pile Gates, with an estimated duration of 60 days.
Significant damage to the statue of Saint Blaise was identified as early as 2020, prompting preventive conservation and restoration work to prevent further deterioration. Through detailed examination, it was determined that a large portion of the sculpture's surface had eroded, causing it to lose its original form.

The head of the statue of Saint Blaise is detached, with several cracks on the neck, a visible crack on the bishop's mitre, and on the part of the statue from the shoulder to the chest. The statue's beard is detached and subsequently attached with a bronze peg. A portion of the sculpture below the staff is affected by malachite greenery, as well as a small part of the wreath, while a smaller area of the stone is covered with black grime.
