The wildfire that broke out above Soline in Župa Dubrovačka last night and threatened nearby houses, which were fortunately defended by incredible efforts by firefighters, is still not under control.
Currently, 90 firefighters are on the scene, and since this morning, they have been assisted in extinguishing the fire by firefighting planes. The strong and continuous wind on the fire ground is making the firefighting efforts particularly challenging, and the situation remains serious. The special firefighting planes arrived this morning at around 7:30 and have been flying ever since. They are still operating now, almost 12 hours of flying time.

"We are fighting hard, the fire has spread very high into the hills, and I fear it might reach the Konavle region. There is still a lot of work ahead," says County Fire Chief Stjepan Simović, continuing.
"As the fire partially entered Bosnia and Herzegovina, there is a high chance it might come back towards the west, towards Postranje. We have a team positioned there. The biggest problem is on the eastern side of the fire, Plat; that's a significant concern, and there's a possibility it might reach the Konavle hills. We will see how it goes; we are pushing hard. The situation is somewhat better, but this is far from over," concludes Simović.
And to make matters even worse the winds that flamed the fire last night have once again started to pick up. It looks like being a long night for all the firefighters involved.
