Today, the City of Dubrovnik initiated a public procurement procedure for the procurement and installation of urban equipment as part of the Lapad Coast reconstruction and expansion project (Phases II, III, and IV of construction).
In addition to the new traffic regulation and coastal structure construction, the project solution pays special attention to the organization of a pleasant outdoor activity area while respecting the cultural and historical values of the area. The urban municipal arrangement of the future coastal promenade will include the procurement and installation of public lighting poles, bus shelters, bollards for boat mooring, as well as the procurement and installation of smart benches and landscaping. The pedestrian and bicycle path will be extended with a stone section of the promenade and tree-lined walkways with seating areas under the shade of trees will be formed.
The works on the Lapad Coast reconstruction and expansion are progressing in accordance with the adopted dynamic plan, and the project is expected to be completed by November 2023. Works are currently underway on the production and installation of reinforced concrete curtains, the laying of rainwater drainage collectors in the trench of the future road, the installation of stone cladding on the coastal wall, and the construction of the water supply system has also begun. According to the dynamic plan, works on the installation of low-voltage and telecommunications network installations should begin in two weeks.
The Lapad Coast reconstruction and expansion project (Phases II, III, and IV of construction) is a capital investment of public interest, which is also the largest investment in the traffic infrastructure of the city center in the last fifty years. The investment is worth HRK 70 million and is fully financed from non-budgetary, European and national funds. Upon completion of the project, the traffic safety and quality of public transportation in the city center will increase, and the existing dominant routes will be relieved.
