How that’s a way to start a NBA basketball game, with a tribute to the patron saint of Dubrovnik, St. Blaise!
The vocal group Klapa Kartolina performed at the start of the Detroit Pistons NBA basketball match in Little Caesars Arena.
“We are sending you this greeting on the occasion of the holiday of St. Blaise, from faraway Canada!” wrote the vocal group on YouTube. Klapa Kartolina is based in the city of Windsor in Ontario.
The whole performance took place on the court of the Detroit Pistons and was also broadcast on the big screen in the arena, and along with the group singing there were also images of Dubrovnik.
“Dubrovnik is especially close to our hearts, because for many years the Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Conception - Dančarka were with our parish and St. Blaise was always worshiped here. In addition, last year we had the honour and pleasure of hosting the Dubrovnik vocal group Klapa Kaše, with whom we became friends and held concerts as part of their mini-tour of Canada,” added Klapa Kartolina.
