2022 was certainly a bounce back year for tourism in Dubrovnik. After two years of the pandemic tourism returned to Dubrovnik, with almost 100 percent more tourists in the city compared to 2021.
According to the eVisitor tourist check-in and check-out system, there were 1,036,313 tourist arrivals in Dubrovnik from January 1 to December 31, 2022, excluding nautical data, which is a total of 98 percent more than in 2021 and 3,556,731 overnight stays, or 85 percent more than last year.
From the total number of tourists from January 1 to December 31, 2022, 550,350 guests stayed in hotel accommodation, which is an increase of 121 percent in hotel accommodation compared to 2021, and 1,823,474 overnight stays were recorded, i.e. 104 percent more than last year.
In 2022, 352,025 guests stayed in private accommodation, which is an increase of 70 percent compared to 2021, and 1,300,013 overnight stays were recorded, which is 65 percent more than the previous year. The top list of countries from which tourists came to Dubrovnik in 2022 is traditionally led by guests from the United Kingdom, followed by tourists from the USA, France, Germany, Croatia, Ireland, Spain, Poland, Italy and the Netherlands.
According to the eVisitor tourist check-in and check-out system, nearly 5,000 guests welcomed the New Year 2023 in Dubrovnik, 4,946 to be exact, 34 percent more than last year, and 18 percent more than 2019. According to the structure of the guests, most of them were from Croatia, followed by tourists from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Austria and Macedonia.
During the whole of December 2022, there were 16,239 tourist arrivals who achieved 37,780 overnight stays. In December, the majority of tourists were from Croatia, followed by tourists from Bosnia and Herzegovina, USA, Slovenia and Germany.
And the early indicators show that 2023 should be even better, in terms of tourist numbers, than last year.
