Dubrovnik Mayor to travel to Canada to World Heritage Cities congress

The Mayor of the City of Dubrovnik, Mato Franković, and the Head of the Administrative Department for European Funds, Regional and International Cooperation, Zrinka Raguž, at the invitation of the City of Quebec and the OWHC organization, will participate in the 16th World Congress of the Organization of World Heritage Cities (OWHC) from September 6 to 10.

Mayor Franković will preside over the General Assembly of OWHC, where the results of the 2019-2022 work will be presented. and candidates for the new leadership of the organization. On Thursday, on the World Heritage Cities Solidarity Day, the mayor will present the experiences of the Respect the City project as well as the plan for continuing the development of sustainable tourism in the city of Dubrovnik.

In addition to the continuation of the symposium on Friday, the completion of the work part of the program foresees the election of the new OWHC president, the adoption of the OWHC 2022-2024 Action Plan. and the choice of the host city for the 2024 congress.

In the afternoon of the same day, an academy of the Canadian airline Air Transat, which operates a direct route from Zagreb to Montreal and vice versa, will be held, during which Mayor Franković will meet with the commercial director of the airline. One of the topics will be the extension of the Air Transat flight season into the winter months, considering the strategic goal of the City, which is year-round sustainable tourism.

On Saturday, September 10, at the invitation of the mayor of Quebec, Mayor Franković will be one of the panellists, along with the mayors of Brussels, Vienna and Bordeaux, on the topics of housing issues and mobility challenges.
