Levelled orange tree from Kupari on shortlist for Croatian Tree of 2022

This year's national competition “Croatian Tree 2022” starts today, September 1, with the opening of public voting to select the winner of the competition. 5 candidates will compete for the title of Croatian Tree in 2022, and only one will have the opportunity to represent the Republic of Croatia at the international competition European Tree in 2023.

This year's candidates are - 

Orange tree on levels from Kupari, Dubrovnik-Neretva County

Trees of Tin's childhood (Celtis australis) from Vrgorac, Split-Dalmatia County

Kostela (costela or košćela - Celtis australis) from the village of Jasenice, Zadar County

Memorial church (church or košćela - Celtis australis) from the municipality of Gradac, Split-Dalmatia County

The magical forest (Quercus robur) from Drežnica polje, Ogulin, Karlovac County

Voting for the Croatian Tree 2022 will last until September 30, 2022. You can vote for one candidate via the official website of the Public Institution for the Management of Protected Nature Areas of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County.

The Public Institution for the Management of Protected Nature Areas of Dubrovnik-Neretva County, as the national coordinator of the Tree of the Year competition on behalf of the Republic of Croatia, will nominate the winner of the 2022 Croatian Tree competition to the 2023 European Tree competition. The winner of the European Tree of the Year competition is symbolically announced on the eve of World Forest Day on March 21 every year. The proclamation ceremony is traditionally held every year in Brussels.
