The contract on the execution of structural rehabilitation works of the Sponza Palace between the Institute for the Reconstruction and the contractor Građevinar Quelin d.d. as well as the contract on the performance of professional and design supervision services with the company Canosa inženjering d.o.o. was signed yesterday.

The renovation and restoration works of Sponza Palace include the structural renovation of the stone elements of the load-bearing structure, as well as the wooden roof structure, the renovation of the roof, covering and floor layers in the southern part of the attic, the renovation of the metal keys of the existing tensioners on the facades, and the renovation and restoration of stone and exterior carpentry.

The public procurement procedure was carried out, and in relation to the estimated value of the works in the amount of 4.7 million Kuna including VAT. The deadline for completing the works is 12 months.

Of exceptional cultural value, the Sponza Palace is one of the most representative buildings of public importance within the monumental fabric of Dubrovnik. In the former customs house, many public functions were performed throughout history, and today it preserves the most precious archival material of the Dubrovnik area.
