Municipal wardens of the City of Dubrovnik today toured the historic core of the city of Dubrovnik with employees of the police department, in order to monitor compliance with Article 95 of the decision on communal order in the area of the City of Dubrovnik, which among other things prohibits people walking in the historical core of the city in a bathing suit.
During this inspection they found two violators who were dressed inappropriately and fined them both 1,000 Kuna. Although they clearly couldn’t have been on inspection very long to only have caught two people as literally hundreds walk through the city in swimming costumes every day.
This often nicknamed “bikini law” is part of the Respect the City project, and the city administration has installed information boards at all entrances to the historic centre containing pictograms and multilingual warnings about inappropriate behaviour.
