The Institute for the Reconstruction of Dubrovnik carried out works on the reconstruction of the baroque portal of the Main Guard on Luža Square, and now this central location in the city has a new shine.
The conservation and restoration works worth 172,675 Kuna were carried out by the company Kvinar from Podstrana, based on the project of conservator-restorer Đivo Dražić and with the prior approval of the Conservation Department in Dubrovnik.
Restoration work on the building located between the town bell tower and the Small Onofrio's Fountain lasted from May 2 to June 15. And in addition to the work on the wall and monuments, work was carried out to replace the damaged paving slabs.
The building of the main guard belongs to the rare Dubrovnik sights as the home of the admiral from the 15th century, and is located right in the heart of the city between the City Hall and the bell tower. The portal is adorned with an arched frame, and the space is marked by two matching rectangular pillars with elongated spikes.
