The Prefect of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County, Nikola Dobroslavić, looked back on the year behind us and sent New Year's greetings to fellow citizens.
Here is his letter in full -
Dear fellow citizens,
2021 was a challenging but successful year for this county. We coped well with the pandemic, except in vaccination in which we can and must do better. We have largely managed to bring tourism back to the destination.
The construction of the Pelješac Bridge was connected and we connected Croatia. We have completed the irrigation project in Neretva and completed the ports: Donje čelo, Puntin and Porto Uš. We established a year-round emergency helicopter medical service, and finally connected Lastovo with Dubrovnik with a daily high-speed line.
We are entering 2022 with optimism. We are expecting a good tourist year, we and our tourists will drive over the Pelješac Bridge and the Ston bypass. We will open the Day Hospital in Metković, the construction of the Waste Management Centre will begin. We will complete four ports: Vela Luka, Trpanj, Drače and Račišće and start three new ones: Polačište, Ubli and Pern with the Orebić bypass. The construction of a school in Cavtat will also begin.
I wish my fellow citizens in 2022 good health, harmony in the family and success in business activities.
