On Saturday, October 9, the final conference of the project "Improvement of the system of sustainable management, tourist valorization and interpretation of natural heritage in the area of NP Mljet, - Odise(j)a Mediterranean" was held.
The Mljet National Park, as the holder of the project, hosted this event and the representatives of the public institution presented all the project results.
The conference was followed by a field tour of the Mljet National Park with project partners and participants, and special attention was paid to the island of St. Marija and one of the oldest Benedictine monasteries in Croatia.
The ride to the island took place with a solar boat, which is fully charged and powered by energy from solar panels located on the roof of the ship, which is another in a series of steps taken by the Mljet National Park for the purpose of sustainable tourism.
Despite the weather conditions, on Sunday, October 10, the Open Day of the Mljet National Park was successfully held. As part of the final conference program, free tours of kayaks, bicycles and hiking tours were offered at various locations of the Mljet National Park, which were enjoyed by domestic and foreign visitors to this magical island.
A gastronomic corner was organized at the Odisej Hotel with a concert by the popular Dubrovnik rock band Valetudo. With a great atmosphere and fierce rock rhythm, the Odyssey(j)a Mediterranean project was successfully completed.
The project Odise(j)a Mediterranean - improvement of the system of sustainable management, tourist valorization and interpretation of natural heritage in the area of NP Mljet, is financed by the European Regional Development Fund, and the project value is 32,645,120.13 Kuna.
