Sea water polluted on beach below Korcula walls - swimming not recommended

The Dubrovnik-Neretva County, Administrative Department for Environmental Protection and Communal Affairs, in accordance with the decree on the quality of bathing sea, warns the public that on the beach below the walls in Korcula there is short-term pollution of the sea of faecal origin.

According to the notification of the Public Health Institute of Dubrovnik-Neretva County from August 26, 2021, during the eighth examination of sea quality according to the Program of determining the quality of the sea on the beaches of Dubrovnik-Neretva County in 2021, it was found that the results of sea analysis walls in Korcula, sampled on 24.08.2021. year, exceed the limit values for the microbiological indicator Escherichia coli.

In accordance with the regulation on the quality of bathing water sampling of the sea will be repeated until the cessation of pollution. The pollution was reported to the Environmental Protection Inspectorate and other competent inspections.

Since the sea sample on the beach below the walls in Korčula does not meet the requirements of the decree due to pollution of faecal origin, bathing is not recommended until further notice.
