The Walls of Ston and the historic landmarks of the town are proving a magnet for tourists this year, and have seen a slow but sure rise in the number of visitors.
The Society of Friends of Dubrovnik Antiquities, the organisation that maintains and operates the Ston Walls announced that they are satisfied with the number of visitors visiting the walls, the Veliki Kaštio fortress and other cultural and historical sites in Ston. The have reported that in June alone, 3,150 tickets were sold, fifty percent more than that month last year. Although any comparison with last year’s tourist season is clearly complicated.
Since the beginning of July, and with the increase in tourist numbers and the number of day-trippers, the daily visits to the walls has increased, and 450 tickets were sold last weekend.
Adults pay 70 Kuna for a tour of Ston, and children 30 Kuna.
