In the past week in the area of Police Administration of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County there were five traffic accidents, in which one person got heavily injured, two persons got light injuries, while there were two traffic accidents with material damage.

By carrying out traffic control measures, police officers have taken 860 repressive measures against the perpetrators of traffic offenses, out of which 490 measures taken due to speeding, 35 measures due to improper overtaking, 39 measures for improper stop and parking, 85 measures because of non-use of the seat belt, 25 measures against drivers who were driving the vehicle under the influence of alcohol and 60 measures because of using mobile phone while driving.

AirBaltic has reversed its decision to cancel a planned new seasonal route between Vilnius and Dubrovnik for the 2020 summer season – website EX-YU Aviation News reports. 

Initially planned to commence on May 2th, the flights were shelved as a result of the coronavirus Covid-19 pandemic. However, as confidence slowly returns among customers, airBaltic plans to fly between the Lithuanian capital and Dubrovnik twice per week from July 6th until September 28th.

The schedule has been altered compared to the one originally filed several months ago with further details available here.

The airline’s planned new service from Vilnius to Rijeka, which was also cancelled, will not be going ahead this year.

The City of Dubrovnik premiered the animated promotional film Dubrovnik - safe vacation.

"Then we knew how and we know it now" - is the motto of the animated film, a new tool for the promotion of Dubrovnik in which the main role is played by the knight Orlando. The medieval knight presents the historical story of the beginnings of quarantine in Dubrovnik and Lazareti in 1377, as a revolutionary way to fight epidemics, at a time when Europe is facing a health threat, while presenting the cultural and natural beauties of our city, spreading positive messages about the safety and attention to health that has been present in our city for centuries in an unusual, cheerful way.

The animated film will be placed on domestic and foreign markets, through ongoing marketing campaigns, but also broadcast on airplanes and on cruisers with arrivals in Dubrovnik during 2020.

Amnesty International UK has published a report titled ‘’Croatia: Shocking evidence of police torture of migrants''.

-In a horrifying escalation of police human rights violations at the Croatian border with Bosnia, a group of migrants and people seeking asylum were recently bound and tortured by officers who mocked their injuries and smeared food on their bleeding heads to humiliate them - Amnesty International UK writes, adding that they spoke to six men In a new investigation, Amnesty spoke to six men among a group of 16 Pakistani and Afghan people apprehended by Croatian police during the night of 26-27 May near Lake Plitvice.

The Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Croatia rejects the allegations that, according to the already established practice and without evidence, accuse the Croatian police of injuring migrants.

This time the alleged police action took place in late May in the Plitvice Lakes area and on that occasion these illegal Afghan and Pakistani migrants were tied to trees, abused with a knife, shot in the air and into the ground, beaten with rifle butts and finally smeared with mayonnaise, ketchup and sugar on their hair.
We reject the idea that a Croatian police officer would do such a thing or have a motive for it.

We will remind you that in the last version of the accusations, the police officers allegedly spray-painted crosses on the heads of migrants. The crosses reportedly had some symbolism that wanted to be used in the month of Ramadan, but now the symbolism of ketchup, mayonnaise and sugar is not known to us.

If the black-uniformed people, as it is insinuated, are the members of the Croatian Special Police, we will remind you that they are responsible for many rescues of illegal migrants, women and children in the inaccessible mountains of Croatia, even in the most difficult conditions on the ground.

Maybe that's why they should be directly attacked and called out?
We urge all those who want facts to pay attention to real events: mutual clashes and fights between migrants in camps in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as media reports on the injuries of migrants and accidents and injuries that happen to them on the way.

Since this, the latest, theory mentions the end of May, we draw attention to the fact that on May 28th near the border with Croatia, near Cazin (Bosnia and Herzegovina) there was a clash between migrants near the village Sturlic, that was reported to the police by one local.

A representative of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Ministry of the Interior confirmed that a police patrol, which was sent to the scene, found two men at the scene of the conflict who showed no signs of life and had visible injuries inflicted by cold steel on their bodies. Bosnian police has also determined that a great number of migrants were injured in the conflict.

People who encounter the migrant population in their daily work are well acquainted with the pattern of mutual clash among the migrant population, especially between citizens of Afghanistan and Pakistan.

However, despite all the above, all publicly made accusations need to be checked, so we will do the same in this case.

While epidemics, including the plague, ravaged the world in the 14th century, revolutionary measures were taken in Dubrovnik to prevent the introduction and spread of infectious diseases in the Republic. Dubrovnik was the first city in the world to introduce quarantine in 1377, the first system of anti-infective measures. Thus, the people of Dubrovnik, already famous sailors and merchants at that time, prescribed measures for the protection of health and provided conditions for business even in times of great danger from the plague. After the first decision on anti-infective measures from 1377, for quarantine area the Senate chose the islands of Bobara and Supetar, the monastery of Saint Marija on the island of Mljet, then in the middle of the 15th century the construction of an infirmary in Dance began, and in the 1530s on the island of Lokrum. In 1627, the construction of the Lazareti at Ploce began, which are the only fully preserved quarantine complex in the European part of the Mediterranean, and have been under UNESCO protection since 1994.

The Tourist Board of the City of Dubrovnik and the City of Dubrovnik use the historical story of the world's oldest quarantine in Dubrovnik for marketing purposes in constant communication with foreign media, as well as in all promotional activities. Also in preparation for the City of Dubrovnik in collaboration with the Dubrovnik Tourist Board is an animated film that will be presented in a few days, called "Dubrovnik - safe vacation", starring the knight Orlando, who takes viewers into history, back in 1377 when the idea of quarantine in Lazareti was conceived in Dubrovnik as a way of fighting various epidemics.

Early this morning, at 4:15 am., seismologists from the Seismological Service recorded a weak earthquake with its epicenter in Zagreb near Markusevac.

The magnitude of the earthquake was 2.4 according to Richter, and the intensity in the epicenter was the III degree of the EMS scale.

After two strong earthquakes of magnitude 5.5 and 4.8 on the Richter scale, which hit Zagreb in the early morning hours of March 22th and left terrible damage, the city had about thousand following trembles.

As many as forty divers from all over Croatia will arrive to Trstenik, one of the most beautiful places on the Peljesac peninsula, at the event organized by locals and the Zagreb diving club Roniti se mora. On Friday, they will clean the seabed the gorgeus bay in the Think Green action.

Trstenik is a well-known village on the Peljesac peninsula because of unique and unspoilt location, located 90 kilometers away from Dubrovnik.

Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic shared some exciting news on his Twitter account. 

Plenkovic wrote that he talked with Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz about preparing for EUCO next week, as well as the situation about COVID-19.
