Germany places two more Croatian counties on red travel list due to rise in new Covid-19 cases

By  Sep 17, 2020

Due to the increased number of new cases of Covid-19 Germany has declared several other European countries and regions as risk areas and issued travel warnings, including two Croatian counties.

The Brod-Posavina and Virovitica-Podravina counties were added to the "red list", after five Croatian counties were already classified as risky.

The Robert Koch Institute published an updated list of areas at risk of spreading the infection on Wednesday, and the central criterion was that there were more than 50 newly infected people per 100,000 inhabitants in an area in the past seven days, reports Večernji list.

As a reminder, the German federal government warned the population on Wednesday not to travel unnecessarily to Vienna and Budapest, classifying the Austrian and Hungarian capitals as a risk area due to the growing number of people infected with coronavirus.

"Due to the large number of new cases we warn against unnecessary, tourist trips to the federal state of Vienna," the German Foreign Ministry announced on Wednesday night.

On Wednesday, Germany included the capital of Hungary, Budapest, in the "red zone", as it did recently for the Czech capital, Prague.
