The Director of the Croatian National Tourist Board, Kristjan Staničić, was elected Vice President of the European Travel Commission (ETC - European Travel Commission), the most important and prestigious international tourism association in Europe consisting of 33 national European tourism organizations, as well as associate members including agencies, tourism service providers, carriers, etc. With this election, Croatia, for the first time in the history of full membership since 1997, has its representative in the presidency of the ETC!
"I thank my European colleagues for the trust shown, which is also a proof of the quality work of the Croatian Tourist Board in the markets of Europe, but also in distant markets. This is also a recognition for Croatian tourism and Croatia, which in this very demanding year, has confirmed its status as the safest tourist destination in the Mediterranean. The future work of the ETC will be even more strongly focused on building a recognizable image of Europe as a destination and its identity, as well as on even stronger cooperation with all stakeholders in tourism in the field of sustainability, connectivity, security and crisis management,”said CNTB Director Kristjan Staničić.
Director Staničić was appointed Vice President at the 99th session of the ETC General Assembly held online. Luis Araujo, President of the National Tourism Directorate of Portugal, has been elected President of the ETC.
The election of director Staničić was also commented on by Eduardo Santander, executive director of ETC. "Sincere congratulations to Croatia and Mr. Stanicic on his appointment. Now, more than ever before, the European tourism sector needs strong guidance and leadership. I am convinced that the great experience of Mr. Staničić, combined with the reputation of the Croatian Tourist Board as a renowned institution, will significantly contribute to the further sustainable development of European tourism in the years to come, "said Santander.
