Croatian Minister of Environment and Energy Tomislav Coric pointed out yesterday, after an informal video conference of EU energy ministers, that Croatia had initiated the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for the implementation of the Clean Energy Declaration for EU Islands.
The goal is to improve the energy transition on the islands
- Croatia initiated the signing of the Memorandum, which is a continuation of the Valletta Declaration, and which aims to improve the energy transition on the islands while respecting the specifics of each island and expand and strengthen cooperation between member states - said Minister Coric, as it is said at the press release of the Ministry of Environment and Energy.
At a video conference, Coric presented to the ministers a Memorandum of Understanding for the implementation of the Clean Energy Declaration for the EU Islands (The Memorandum of Split).
After the video conference, Coric reminded that during the Croatian presidency of the EU, two "significant documents" in the field of energy were adopted - Conclusions on the response to the COVID-19 pandemic in the EU energy sector and the mentioned Memorandum.
The Memorandum takes into account the goals of the Paris Agreement, the European Green Agreement, the ZEV on achieving a climate-neutral EU by 2050, the Clean Energy for All Europeans legislative package and the National Energy and Climate Plans - the statement said.
