There is 92 thousands tourists that are currently vacationing in Croatia, or about 20 thousand more than before the start of this extended weekend, and most of them, or 66.5 thousand are foreign visitors, according to eVisitor, which confirms the growth of tourist traffic after the opening of borders and easing of measures.
-The increase in tourist arrivals this week was expected due to the opening of borders and easing of measures, but also because of an extended weekend 'relying' on the Feast of Corpus Christi (Thursday, June 11th) - the Croatian Tourist Board said.
They add that eVisitor's data also show that the top markets in Croatian tourism are slowly returning to the way they were.
According to eVisitor, the first four foreign markets from which most tourists are currently in Croatia are Germany, Slovenia, Austria and the Czech Republic, which hold these positions when the situation is normal, only now they are significantly less than the figures that have been common in recent years at this time of the year.
Most tourists who are currently in Croatia are accommodated in household facilities, then in camps, and then in hotels.
The destinations where there are most of the tourists are Rovinj, which thus 'emerges' to its first place among destinations in Croatia, and then Vir, which had the most tourists during the whole period of closure due to coronavirus, even when no one else had any. This continues now because on Vir many local people and foreigners have both non-commercial (for themselves) and commercial (for rent) facilities in the so-called private accommodation.
Mali Losinj is currently in third place in terms of tourist visits, followed by Medulin, a strong Istrian destination with a lot of camping and other facilities, according to data from eVisitor.
