The quality of Europe's bathing water remains high, according to this year's European bathing water quality assessment published yesterday. Just under 85 percent of swimming sites across Europe monitored in 2019 met the European Union's highest and most stringent ‘excellent' quality standards.
According to this survey, Croatia is in the top five countries when it comes to bathing waters with excellent quality. First is Cyprus, followed by Austria, Malta, Greece and then Croatia.
When it comes to bathing water quality in Croatia last year, out of 988 sites, 945 or 95.6 percent were marked as excellent, 26 as good, five as sufficient, none as poor and 12 were not classified.
The results published by the European Environment Agency (EEA) and the European Commission give a good indication where swimmers can find the best quality bathing waters, as they explain, but the members of general public are advised to seek for additional information on the rules implemented because of the coronavirus pandemic.
