The normally busy streets and squares of the Croatian capital were relatively empty as citizens followed advice to combat the spread of coronavirus. The main square, Ban Jelacic square, in the very heart of Zagreb is always a hive of activity, but not today as the week started with empty café bars and many people working from home.
Many of the trams that flow through the city and are normally crowded were empty this morning in the capital and there was an eerie feel to start the working week.
There are currently 56 cases of coronavirus confirmed in Croatia with seven new cases being reported this morning. Of the seven new cases in Croatia, five are in Zagreb, one in Karlovac and one in Rijeka, and among the infected is a doctor from Zagreb. Currently there are almost 9,000 people in self-isolation throughout Croatia.
